![]() ![]() The ship arrived in San Francisco on October 24th 1929, to a deafening welcome from the whistles and horns of many ships. On October 11th, the Asama Maru, built at a cost of about £1,000,000, began her maiden voyage from Yokohama to Honolulu to San Francisco. The Asama Maru left Kobe on October 7th 1929 for Yokohama Japan. ![]() The Yokohama-San Francisco route took about fifteen days. Principal ports visited included Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kobe, Yokohama, Honolulu, Los Angeles & San Francisco. ![]() Their interior design had a very period British style, Japanese influences were held to a minimum.
